There are four academic divisions:
Humanities
Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences
Medical Sciences
Social Sciences
Each has a divisional board with responsibility, under Council and subject to plans, policies, and guidelines set down by Council and its committees, for each division. The composition of each division and divisional board, the powers and duties of each divisional board, and the role of Head of Division, are set out in legislation.
