This award was set up following a gift from Mr Michael Borkan to enhance links between the universities of Oxford and Cornell.
Award details
The value of the awards will vary. Applicants will need to provide a budget for travel and living expenses which will be used when calculating any award.
Eligibility
Awards are open to current undergraduates and postgraduates of the University of Oxford and its academic and professional staff. Priority consideration will be given to staff and students of three colleges: Merton, New and Pembroke.
Final year students must indicate clearly why their proposed period abroad will be directly relevant to their studies at this stage.

The Brettschneider Fund can support a wide range of activities:
- Workshops, conferences or seminars
- Summer schools
- Internships
- Archival or library research
- Thesis research
- Staff exchange
