1. The fund shall be administered by a board of management consisting of:
(1) the Vice-Chancellor, or a member of Convocation appointed by the ViceChancellor from year to year;
(2) the head for the time being of the Department of Engineering Science;
(3) the Wykeham Professor of Physics.
2. The income of the fund shall be applied by the board in the following ways:
(a) to maintain one or more Edgell Sheppee Prizes, the number and value to be determined by the board, to be awarded
(i) on the recommendation of the examiners in the Honour School of Engineering Science for performance in Engineering Science in that examination; and on the recommendation of the examiners in the Honour School of Engineering, Economics, and Management for performance in Engineering in the Part II project, and
(ii) on the recommendation of the head for the time being of the Department of Engineering Science for laboratory or drawing office work carried out in the Department of Engineering Science by candidates for the Honour Schools of Engineering Science and of Engineering, Economics, and Management;
(b) to make grants, on the recommendation of the head for the time being of the Department of Engineering Science, for the assistance of members of the University engaged on research in Engineering Science in Oxford;
(c) at the discretion of the board, so far as not required for the foregoing purposes:
(i) to make grants, on the recommendation of the head for the time being of the Department of Engineering Science, for the assistance of other persons engaged on research in Engineering Science in Oxford;
(ii) for any other purposes consistent with the main object of the fund.
3. This decree may be altered from time to time provided always that the main object of the fund is kept in view, namely the encouragement and promotion of the study of Engineering Science in Oxford.
